The nephron is the structural and functional unit of the kidney, responsible for filtering blood and forming urine. Also known as a Uriniferous Tubule, each kidney contains approximately 1 million nephrons. It consists of a Renal Corpuscle and Renal Tubules.

How are organisms categorized based on their primary nitrogenous waste?

Organisms are categorized as Ammonotelic (excrete highly toxic ammonia, e.g., aquatic animals), Ureotelic (excrete moderately toxic urea, e.g., mammals), or Uricotelic (excrete least toxic uric acid in paste form, e.g., birds, reptiles). Humans are ureotelic.
